Several years ago I started a self-hosted WordPress to blog about a super niche subject. I was bored – I wanted to learn development, and have something to keep me writing on a regular basis.
The ulterior motive of that site was to get people to actually come to the site and read it. Attention is a drug and, like a committed drug user, I began to get serious about getting more of it (the attention, not drugs).
That desire lead me Internet marketing; a jumbled mix of lies, logic and luck all intended to produce something of value, ultimately, for yourself (myself).
In a lot of ways, that’s where I’m at, and half the point of developing this site. The goal of this site, MRKT, is an attempt at simple, granular, and effective ways to manage your life as it pertains to creating digital things — whether that be for yourself or a client.
Just so we’re clear — I’m not a guru or an expert; I don’t have a clairvoyant insight into this stuff — I just tried a lot of things, quickly, and found out what works and what doesn’t.
